Waterfront Partnership Services
Services provided by the Waterfront Partnership are all aimed at making the visitor experience along the waterfront more enjoyable, entertaining and educational!
Lush and Colorful
To make sure the open spaces along the waterfront are filled with colorful flowers and grass areas are neatly mowed and inviting for families to sit on while they enjoy the water views, Ruppert Nurseries aka “The Green Team”, a regional landscape management company, plants seasonal flowers, hangs flower filled baskets on poles, mows the grass and mulches and waters the flower beds.
The Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore won two national awards in 2008 – one from the Professional Landcare Network and another from the Landscape Contractors Association of MD/DC/VA - with Ruppert Nurseries for landscaping projects around Baltimore City’s waterfront.
Sparkling Clean
Making doubly sure that the waterfront promenade is clean of any debris or litter, the Waterfront Partnership has hired Living Classroom’s Project Serve team to supplement city maintenance crews.
Project Serve dedicates 10 workers in summer months and 4 workers in winter months to sweep the promenade, remove graffiti, paint poles and generally ‘sweat the details’ that otherwise might fall between the cracks.
Visitor Experience
New visitors to the Waterfront are often looking for guidance in how to get to attractions they want to visit, learn where to park or where to locate a public restroom. To make the waterfront area friendly and easy to enjoy, during the summer months the Waterfront Partnership hires Waterfront Guides to respond to questions and overall provide a friendly face and watchful eye over the waterfront. In 2008, the Hospitality team helped 300,000 pedestrians with information, directions and recommendations; escorted almost 9,000 visitors, residents and employees to where they needed to go; and made lasting memories for countless visitors by offering to photograph their entire group including the photographer.
Staying Safe
The Safety Guides patrol the waterfront on bike, foot and Segway to provide a watchful eye and make sure the waterfront remains safe. The Safety Guides serve as eyes and ears for the Inner Harbor Police Unit and also provide escort services, deter aggressive panhandling and conduct business checks. Working closely with the police, this year our Guides were able to enforce the park rules, reduce aggressive panhandling, limit soliciting, and make the harbor and enjoyable and safe experience.

Events and Marketing
Exciting and free family fun activities like Waterfront Wiggle concerts featuring Milkshake, free yoga classes on the waterfront with Charm City Yoga, and a Harbor Harvest Festival produced in partnership with the Downtown Family Alliance draw visitors from around the region and around the world.
Free activity carts stationed outside of the Aquarium and near the Science Center during the summer weekends are another waterfront hit. Filled with bubbles, coloring pages, balls, jump ropes and picnic blankets they set the stage for impromptu picnics along the waterfront.
Teaming with local organizations, the Waterfront Partnership continues to add free classes, festivals and weekend events along the waterfront. The Waterfront Partnership also promotes and highlights upcoming waterfront events through its public relations campaigns and by placing ads in local publications.
