Cool mornings and warm afternoons signal that this is the perfect time of year in Charm City. Summer is right around the corner, but these last days of spring in Baltimore are ours to enjoy in this city we all love. So we say "GO OUTSIDE" with these five must-attend events happening this weekend.
Saturday, June 4th, is a day of must-not-miss events, including a charitable marathon in Druid Hill Park at dawn, an early morning padding expedition in Canton, a daytime bridge party in the Middle Branch, a daylong walkable outdoor market on Charles Street, and our city's newest live series celebrating homegrown talent, budding new artists, and enthusiastic local pride that's setting a totally new, aspirational vibe on the waterfront.
Baltimore By Baltimore (BxB): Music & Makers Festival Series
What better way to start your afternoon than on the waterfront at the Inner Harbor's Amphitheater for our city's newest monthly showcase of the area's best local performers, artists, makers, and entrepreneurs–Baltimore By Baltimore.
Curated by producer and artist navigator Terrell Brown, this weekend's BxB event features live music by Baltimore-based headliners like 'Hip-Rock & Soul' powerhouse Eat The Cake Band, Baltimore Club producer and lyricist Blaqstarr, the many grooves of John Tyler and Abdu Ali's electro-sonic bangers will keep the party going as we feature some of the luminaries curating Baltimore's independent marketplace such as Girl In Space Club, Milk Barn Candles and Accessmatized.
On the tables spinning the right cuts for the upbeat mood of this event will be 1500 Radio and DJ Twisted. The legendary and internationally toured street performer – Michael Rosman – will entertain you with his crown engaging routines. The empowering, artistic outreach of WombWork, Inc. and the team of virtuoso laureates featured in The Poetry Party is sure to leave you amazed by each passing stanza.
Baltimore By Baltimore's menu of area food trucks and caterers is just as impressive. Treats and drinks from Sweet Kam, the health-conscious delicacies of Flair Cuisine, the many flavorful dishes of 3 Jay's Seafood & Chicken, and the fresh-off-the-grill-entrees from Boss Burger Food Truck & Restaurant will be on hand to sate all appetites.
Baltimore By Baltimore represents the new wave of Waterfront entertainment and a unique platform for elevating the diverse array of design, cuisine, art, and music for the entire city.
The Baltimore Floatilla is back. YUSS! Tell your family, friends, and local pirates that the best way to kayak in the harbor is returning to Canton Waterfront Park this weekend, now with a new Treasure Hunt theme.
Presented by the Waterfront Partnership's Healthy Harbor Initiative, this fun (and educational) day on the high seas of Baltimore's Harbor begins once kayakers receive their treasure map charting the course points to the riches awaiting them at key landmarks throughout the waterfront!
Your Saturday morning quest to attain the six precious tokens begins after a tasty breakfast from THB Bagelry & Deli with decadent cups of coffee provided by Orinoco Coffee & Tea. A quick instructional session with Hands on HIIT is available to newcomers before launching out into the Floatilla with Ultimate Watersports leading the treasure hunt! Along with the adventure comes the spectacular views of the waterfront.
This wonderful opportunity to experience the water up close supports the Healthy Harbor Initiative and its ecological advocacy in our communities, classrooms, on our waters.
Celebrating its fifth year of running for charity, The Baltimore 10-Miler is a runner's weekend paradise for the striding marathoners and those cheering them on for a good cause that supports local youth sports and community organizations.
This three-hour loop between two of Baltimore's most storied parks starts at Druid Hill Park and leads west to east toward the Baltimore Museum of Art and the neighborhoods of Charles Village and along 33rd Street to the beauty of Lake Montebello.
Runners then pivot course and return on the same path back to Druid Hill Park's grassy hills, sprawling lawns, and tree-shaded pathways that give views of the famous The Maryland Zoo, towers on TV Hill, and of Downtown Baltimore from a plateau overlooking the Jones Falls Expressway.
The festive, early morning atmosphere brought to you by Corrigan Sports will be synced to the tunes of various DJs and bands placed throughout the course for everyone's music needs. Your perfect introduction to a fantastic weekend in Baltimore.
Just across the Hanover Street Bridge in Cherry Hill, one of South Baltimore's longstanding neighborhoods, will be "the-place-to-be" from Saturday morning to the early afternoon as The Block Party On The Bridge.
Free to the public, this family-friendly community get-together is a part of Reimagine Middle Branch's effort to bring more forms of recreational access to parks, trails, programs, and opportunities for enfranchisement with neighboring communities and visitors alike.
Make sure you enjoy the free food while jammin' to the grooving music selected by DJ Jetta, DJ Ok, DJ Scottie B, and The Pretty Girl Tiara LaNiece. This landmark event will remind people of the world-class potential of this neighborhood that sits on the calming banks of The Patapsco River, with a remarkable view of Baltimore's skyline in the distance.
This Saturday, at The Charles Street Promenade Pedestrian Takeover, the street will be closed with no moving cars in sight. This often busy weekday throughway will be covered with tents from storefront boutiques, niche restaurants, and talented live performers. Closing the street gives people the chance to roam free and be in the middle of Baltimore's most stylish, artistic, and flavorful corridors.
With shops like Differentregard, Viva Books, Lumière Candle Studio, and ADORN Vintage Furniture & Designs and eateries like Allora, Darker Than Blue Grille, Marie Louise Bistro, EDR (Eat Drink Relax) on display for walkers to see the best of Baltimore's forever trendy neighborhood that Walters Art Museum calls home.
