Printed & Promoted By Baltimore

For the Baltimore by Baltimore (BxB) festival series, the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore worked with Globe Press at MICA to create poster designs with the eye-catching style of Globe to accentuate the local and community-based core of the festival.

We also honor the history of Harry Knorr, the designer who worked at Globe Press for more than three decades designing as many as a dozen posters a day. And whose hand lettering on countless wood types is still used in designs today.

Globe Press, at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) since 2010, is one of the nation’s oldest and largest showcard printing companies. Since 1929, Globe Press has held an address in Baltimore City and is known for promoting the people’s entertainment. From vaudeville to carnival acts and at its peak in the 1960s with over 20 posters a day of top R&B and Rock acts, Globe Press posters have been making audiences look with its bright inks and bold, hand-lettered type that shakes and shimmies.

Baltimore by Baltimore (BxB) is a music and makers festival series hosted every first Saturday of the month, May - October 2022, at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, from Noon to 8 p.m. Join us in a free celebration of the music, makers, and munchies that make Baltimore truly special at the gem of the city, the Inner Harbor Amphitheater.
