Brad Kolodner

Brad Kolodner is a performer, teacher, and community organizer whose passion for Old Time and Bluegrass music has made him one of the forefront voices in Baltimore’s roots music scene.

Brad Kolodner is a born-and-raised Baltimorean whose passion for banjo and acoustic roots music has led him on a path that includes performing, recording, teaching, broadcasting, and community organizing. He has been called a “defining voice in the contemporary banjo community” and an “inventive, creative player pushing the boundaries of the tradition.” On stage, he has performed across the country on major festival stages with the chart-topping roots quartet Charm City Junction and in a band with his father as Ken & Brad Kolodner. Behind the scenes, he shares his passion for this music as the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of the Baltimore Old Time Music Festival, held annually at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. Additionally, he runs the bi-weekly Baltimore Old Time Jam at the Green Room in Hampden and the monthly Baltimore Square Dance at Mobtown Ballroom. Through his work as an organizer, he is one of the major pillars in a Baltimore roots music scene, which has blossomed into one of the country’s most vibrant roots music communities. While he wears many hats, his love of sharing the joy of Old Time and Bluegrass music is at the heart of what drives him.
