Celebrating the Fourth on Baltimore’s Waterfront

Baltimore residents, neighbors, and visitors came out to the waterfront to celebrate 4th of July last week with a full day of free, family-friendly events.

After daytime festivities including line dancing, live music, and local food trucks, the evening brought a beautiful performance by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Rash Field Park that continued through the city fireworks and drone show.
A big thank you to our partners PNC Bank and Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts for helping us bring a great celebration to the waterfront.

At West Shore Park, Waterfront Partnership hosted an afternoon Red, White, & Blue picnic with some of the city’s favorite local food trucks. DJ Keebee and emcee Larry “Whaddup” Caudle kept the energy going and people dancing, with a playlist of greatest hits and line dancing songs.

Down the promenade, BOPA also brought live bands to the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, where more food trucks were gathered for participants as they danced and relaxed at the amp.

After a brief burst of rain, the sun came right back out just in time for Mayor Brandon Scott’s arrival by kayak to Rash Field Park for the evening’s performance.

Mayor Scott, Waterfront Partnership President Laurie Schwartz, BOPA CEO Rachel Graham, and PNC Bank Regional President Laura Gamble introduced the BSO performance.

The BSO played through a setlist of both familiar classics and revamped modern mixes, giving a performance that was at times energizing, at times moving, and through it all, a tribute to the beauty and talent of Baltimore. The performance included an emotional tribute to the victims of the Key Bridge collapse.

Spectators lined up in front of the stage and lounged in the spacious green areas of Rash Field Park to listen and watch as the sun began to sink low over the harbor. It was a beautiful evening in the park as the orchestra played through golden hour, sunset, and the fireworks. We’re thankful to our partners PNC Bank, Baltimore Office of Promo & the Arts, and the BSO for bringing this event back to the waterfront for a third year!
