Wherever you walk on Baltimore’s waterfront, our city’s legacy of Black history and culture is all around you. Black history is intrinsic in the art, music, and landmarks of our city, and the stories of Black Baltimoreans tell the story of Baltimore. February is Black History Month, a great opportunity to take the time to engage with these stories that are always present.
Join the city in celebration at the Black History Month Parade on Monday, February 17th; use Visit Baltimore’s BoP Pass to easily explore Black businesses and cultural institutions all over the city; spend a day at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture. The opportunities to engage with and celebrate this history extend far beyond one month.
Here are some ways to learn about Black history and celebrate Black culture in Baltimore, not just during February but all year round.

This past weekend, we celebrated the Lunar New Year with a very special Asia in a Bite food festival at Harbor Point Ice Festival. The 2 day event was packed with musical and dance performances, live ice carving and ice sculptures, tons of delicious food and drinks, and all-around festive vibes. Attendees of all ages came out to Harbor Point Central Plaza and Wills Park to experience a one of a kind event celebrating Lunar New Year and the beauty of winter.

It’s officially fall! With the weather cooling off and the leaves changing color, there’s no better time to slow down and take in our beautiful waterfront views. Our annual celebration of the myth, the legend, our hero of the harbor returns again this Saturday, September 21st at Peabody Heights Brewery with a new, fun twist. We’ll be busting trash by raising money for brand new booms for Professor Trash Wheel and coming together to support a Maryland Bottle Bill. This month’s Baltimore by Baltimore festival was Groove in the City produced by John Tyler. It was a beautiful, sunny day on the waterfront complete with a dazzling display of local art and cacophony of new voices and Baltimore favorites on stage.

Baltimore is an urban oasis full of open space, greenery, and ways to enjoy the beautiful waterfront views.

PNC Bank & Waterfront Partnership teamed up to bring Shade Stations to the Inner Harbor ahead of our summer events season.

We celebrated the Fourth of July on the waterfront with a live orchestra performance, dancing, food trucks, and more.

Baltimore by Baltimore’s July show was Harbor Hootenanny, bringing Baltimore’s acoustic roots music scene to the Inner Harbor with bluegrass and Old Time Music.

Next week’s holiday brings a star spangled celebration and red, white, and blue picnic to Baltimore’s waterfront district for an unforgettable day of community fun that caps off with a live BSO performance under the fireworks!
