Thank you Pompeian for 3 Years of Community Support!

If you’ve caught a glimpse of Mr. Trash Wheel and Professor Trash Wheel lately, you may have noticed something (even more) unique about them- the olives they’ve been sporting!

These olives are here to show off the trash wheels’ adoption by Baltimore-based Pompeian Olive Oil, America’s largest olive oil brand and our partner in keeping the harbor clean.

Pompeian has adopted Mr. Trash Wheel and Professor Trash Wheel since 2021.
Since that time, the two wheels have removed 440 tons or 880,000 lbs. of litter and debris from the Baltimore Harbor, which includes 391,630 plastic bottles, 617,900 cigarette butts, 248,165 wrappers, and 60,000 foam containers.

Pompeian has also partnered with the Healthy Harbor Initiative by contributing $30,000 in support of Waterfront Partnership's Community Cleanup and Beautification Grants Program; and Waterfront Partnership has distributed $55,000 in Pompeian-funded grants to traditionally underserved communities that helped to clean, beautify and strengthen neighborhoods.

Last year’s funds supported bringing youth and adults together for cleanups in Sharp-Leadenhall; the painting of a block-long butterfly mural in Milton Montford; a block beautification project around Patterson Park; and support for the Tandea Youth Internship program, which paid youth to clean  McElderry Park each Sunday.
All grant recipients get to experience the Inner Harbor on boat rides where they learn about the ecosystem and water health.

We couldn’t be happier to work with Pompeian on our mission to create a clean, healthy harbor- and we know Mr. Trash Wheel agrees!

To celebrate the third year of Pompeian adopting the trash wheels, we got together with local Baltimore influencer Chyno the Blue Bearded Foodie and made some Mr. Trash Wheel pancake art! Check out the video below- and maybe try it at home (with your Pompeian Olive Oil, of course)!
