Designed For Our Community, By Our Community
Rash Field Park marks a new era for waterfront redevelopment focused on user interaction and designed with feedback provided through community engagement. Rash Field Park serves as a role model for how to approach waterfront redevelopment in Baltimore.
Phase I | OPEN
Since 2015, Waterfront Partnership has worked with the surrounding communities, City entities, and both private and not-for-profit partners to create a park for the people of Baltimore. Input was sought through a variety of public engagement opportunities, which yielded many of the final design elements, including the park's shaded areas, the provision of free family activities, and even grand features like the skate park.
Construction started in January 2020 and was completed in November of 2021. Rash Field Park is NOW OPEN and provides a safe and central place for families city-wide to enjoy the park amenities as well as a full calendar of community events all season long.
Phase II | Community Review
Phase II of Rash Field Park will take several more years to complete. Based on prior conversations with the community during the Phase 1 planning process, the concept shown here was developed to consider places for running tracks, an athletic field and beach, exercise equipment, and flexible spaces that can support a variety of group activities.
