Top 5 Photo Opportunities in Harbor East

Are you visiting Harbor East soon? Don’t miss out on a chance to grab a photo at one of these gorgeous spots in the neighborhood! With its flowering trees and striking promenade views, Harbor East offers wonderful photo opportunities.

The Deck

Located right off the promenade, The Deck is a must for grabbing that picturesque harbor landscape. This spot offers great views of the harbor as well as the Inner Harbor skyline across the water. It’s a well known fixture of the promenade for locals and visitors alike, since it’s right on the promenade by many of Harbor East’s waterfront restaurants. The Deck is a great place to take photos before or after dining out, especially if you’re already all dressed up!

When to get the perfect shot: Daytime photos are great here, when the light brings out the blue of the water and sky. Mid morning and early afternoon shots will be well light but not overexposed.

Mr. Trash Wheel

Be sure to visit Mr. Trash Wheel and grab a selfie with him! The trash wheel is a Waterfront Partnership Healthy Harbor program that helps keep our harbor clean- and he’s a local celebrity! You can find him right by the Pier 5 bridge off the Jones Falls Expy.
Mr. Trash Wheel is a part of the Waterfront Partnership’s Healthy Harbor Initiative, and in addition to being a visual icon, he is an integral part of limiting pollution in our waterways! Be sure to check out the signage here to learn about the trash wheels and how they work.

When to get the perfect shot: Mr. Trash Wheel is always photogenic, but he looks especially great in the afternoon, when you can capture the reflection of his green olive in the blue water. Fun fact- the olives on his water wheels are there to celebrate his adoption by our friends at Pompeian Olive Oil!

Harbor Bridge Walk

This bridge connecting Harbor East and the Inner Harbor is a great place to grab photographs of the water, the promenade, and the surrounding landmarks. Be sure to visit in spring to capture the flowering trees in bloom!
This bridge is the gateway between Harbor East and the Inner Harbor, and part of the extensive walking trails that cover Baltimore’s waterfront. On the other side of this bridge you can access Pier 5 Pavilion, the National Aquarium, Seven Knoll Lighthouse, and more!

When to get the best shot: Visit in the spring to capture the trees’ first flowers of the season!

Aliceanna Street

You can’t beat Aliceanna St for pretty, atmospheric photos. The busy, bustling streets, tall, modern buildings, and neighborhood streets make for excellent city photographs. This block before you reach the waterfront promenade and businesses creates a unique downtown feeling in Harbor East. You’re likely to see tourists visiting the city here, as there are many nearby hotels, and locals from the nearby offices out and about on break. It’s a great mix of all our city has to offer.

When to get the perfect shot: Visit at night to get the neighborhoods’ string lights in your photo and capture the warmth and energy of this Harbor East block!
