Saturday, February 3 | 1pm – 3pm
Explore Black History through quilting with a short film screening of QUILTED EDUCATION. This film celebrates a mother’s artistry and determination to fill the educational void for her daughter regarding Black History within the public school system. A conversation will follow with filmmaker Kayla Robinson @kaylorray and quilter historian Karen Robinson @quiltededucation about their Black history story quilt which features over 64 Black pioneers in the fields of sports, military service, science, politics, civil rights, performing arts, literature and more. Museum visitors will be given the opportunity to create their own Black History quilt square with this mother – daughter team.
