Music Under the Dome: Daft Punk
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Get ready for an intergalactic dance party set to the iconic sounds of electronic music duo, Daft Punk. This immersive planetarium show will send you on a journey around the world, through the cosmos, and back again—one more time. What is Music Under the Dome? Glad you asked! Music Under the Dome is an immersive planetarium experience featuring in-house curated imagery set to a music playlist. Each show is uniquely developed to complement the soundtrack, and is only available at the Maryland Science Center. Check in for the show early and enjoy a complimentary happy hour, complete with adult beverages, special science demonstrations, and access to our space exhibits.

HBCU Day: Cultivating Activism – Their Impact Then and Now
Spend the day on the yard at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum with roundtable panel discussions on HBCU activism, Greek Step Show performances and HBCU fun activities for kids. An educational session on how to pay for college and HBCU Resource Tables with local representatives will be included. Visitors will be able to mix and mingle later in the afternoon with an HBCU happy hour to include a wine tasting and live music from DJ No ID.

Community Days at Port Discovery
Enjoy play, learning and family fun at a discounted cost per person during Port Discovery’s Community Days.
Come play and learn while exploring Port Discovery’s three floors of open play areas including The SkyClimber, The Port, Tiny’s Diner, Wonders of Water, and more! Plus, stop by some educational drop-in activities created by Port Discovery’s Education Specialists. Community Days last from October-May.

Glass Art for Kids: Stained Glass Dinosaur
Create your very own stained glass dinosaur in this 3-hour workshop designed for kids ages 10-16. Start by select your colors from precut and ground glass pieces. Then learn how to use copper foiling techniques and a soldering iron to piece together segments of glass to form a dinosaur that is uniquely your own. This workshop is the perfect opportunity for anyone curious about the art of stained glass or interested in developing soldering skills.

Jake's Day Community Skate Party
Join us for our annual community skate event at Jake's Skate Park in Rash Field Park! This free event is a chance for kids 12 and under to learn to skate in a fun, supportive environment. Local pro skater Joey Jett of Bmore Create, along with shredders from the Skatepark of Baltimore and Shape Skate Foundation, will be assisting young skaters to get on board.

9th Annual Feastival: A Food Adventure for a Cure
The Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) will host the 9th Annual Feastival, A Food Adventure for a Cure on April 12, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Inner Harbor’s West Shore Park. This highly anticipated food and drink event will bring together the city’s most praised chefs and Baltimore Bartenders Guild (BBG) mixologists to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Guests can expect an afternoon filled with music, bites and sips set against one of Baltimore’s premier outdoor venues with incredible views of the Inner Harbor. The highlight of the day will be the inspirational stories shared by several CF ambassadors, detailing their experiences living with CF and how the funds raised support treatments, research and the ultimate goal of a cure. All-inclusive tickets are $125 for one or $200 for two. Kids 12 and under are free.

Dig Into Dinos
Discover what it takes to be a paleontologist in this 2.5-hour workshop intended for ages 7-10. Learn how fossils form and what they can tell you about ancient life by making scientific models of molds and casts. Conduct a mock excavation and test out real field techniques used to protect fossils for their journey back to the lab. The workshop will then head over to our Dinosaur Mysteries exhibit where you will use clues to find a few of our favorite dinosaur specimens.

Indigo Dyeing
Create your own indigo dyed fabric samples in this 2-hour workshop designed for ages 13+. Learn about the chemical processes that make indigo dyeing possible and discover the art of Shibori as you fold and tie your fabric to design unique patterns.


Grown Up Field Trip: Nickelodeon Night
It’s a Wild and Crazy Kids, Ledgends of the Hidden Temple, Double Dare kind of night. Admit it—back in the day, you tuned in to watch all those amazing Nick game shows and dreamed of becoming a contestant. Well, here’s your chance. For one night only, the Maryland Science Center is bringing your dream to reality! We’re making slime, saying yes to the physical challenge, and letting our childhood dreams come true. (21+)

Red Shoe Shuffle 5K Run & Walk
Lace up your running shoes and get ready for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland’s 14th Annual Red Shoe Shuffle 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, April 27, 2025, beginning at 8:30 am. Always the Happiest Morning in Maryland, thousands of Shufflers line up their red, white, and striped socks to show our RMH families that they have the support of our incredible community as they fight the battle of their lives.
The family friendly 5k course starts at the Big Red Heart at the Ronald McDonald House and takes Shufflers through downtown Baltimore along the Harbor and back to the House. After the race, plan to stick around for Celebration Village, full of fun activities for all ages, food vendors, live music, and special guests! For more details, visit redshoeshuffle.org.

Visit Port Discovery for an exciting Puppet Powered Weekend where creativity and fun take center stage! Enjoy live puppet shows, hands-on activities, and a special appearance by Danny Joe from Danny Joe’s Tree House!

Sensory Friendly Sundays at Port Discovery
The Museum strives to be an inclusive and accessible space that celebrates neurodiversity and welcomes people of all needs and abilities. We currently offer monthly Sensory Friendly Sundays on the 3rd Sunday of every month, open to all guests and members, and weekly Access & Inclusion Afternoons open to groups serving children and families with disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and/or sensory processing disorders. Pre-registration is required.

CIAA Men’s and Women’s Tournament

Digging in the Past
Earn your wolf elective by exploring the world of Paleontology at the Maryland Science Center. Turn fossils into a snack, create a dino dig to take home, and develop your fossil hunting skills. Enjoy some time in our Dinosaur Mysteries exhibit after it is closed to the public. Although this is a wolf elective, all cub scouts are welcome to sign up.

Fingerprinting Workshop for Scouting America
Learn about fingerprints and how to identify types of prints! Even though koalas have fingerprints almost identical to ours, your fingerprints are still unique. Scouts (in 6th-12th grade) will learn how to identify the types of prints you have and how they are used by law enforcement versus biometric scanners. Practice taking your fingerprints so you can take a clear set home and learn how to lift those left behind at a crime scene.

Astro Adventure
Pop on your space suit and rocket on over to the Maryland Science Center for a day filled with out-of-this-world exploration. Aim for your target and help mission control safely land a spacecraft on a faraway planet. Train like an astronaut and explore what it’s like to work in outer space. Examine the ways astronomers use color to illustrate the structure of the universe. Collect a sample of space dust and discover what secrets it holds about other planets and moons. All activities are free with paid admission or membership.

Hops & Vines
Sip, savor, and support learning through play!
Join Port Discovery for a grown-up friend-raiser (21+) in support of their educational and access programs. Hops & Vines brings together the best breweries and wineries from around the region for an evening of premier tastings. Take a tour of beverage samples along a backdrop of a fun night-at-the-museum vibe, complete with music and mingling.

Glass Art: Resin Snowflakes
Create a winter wonderland of cured resin snowflakes! Explore the world of resin art in this 2.5-hour workshop designed for ages 8+. Instructors from MK Glass Designs will guide you through the process of working with and curing resin to create a total of 5 fully-cured snowflakes. Choose from a variety of colors and add-ins to make your snowflake decorations completely unique to you.

Stuffies Day Out
Join Port Discovery on January 25th for Stuffies Day Out! Bring your favorite stuffed toy for a day of games, a special art project, and a visit from Danny Joe of Danny Joe's Tree House. Learn about Teddy Bear history and enjoy hands-on fun, perfect for all ages.

National Lacrosse Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
The National Lacrosse Hall of Fame was established in 1957 to honor men and women who by their deeds as players, coaches, officials and/or contributors, and by the example of their lives, personify the great contribution of lacrosse to our way of life.
Over 450 lacrosse greats are honored in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, which is located alongside the National Lacrosse Museum at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
