The Hemingway Room Jazz Fall Collection: Imani-Grace
We are thrilled to announce The Hemingway Room Fall Collection! Join us every 3rd Friday and Saturday in Sept thru Nov for six incredible shows featuring some of the most vibrant and pioneering artists in the neo-jazz scene today.
Mr. Trash Wheel Fan Fest
Join us for Trash Wheel Fan Fest Saturday, September 21st at 7PM! This year, we’re channeling the spirit of Ghostbusters with a trash-busting twist. We are busting trash by raising money for brand new booms for Professor Trash Wheel and coming together to support a MD Bottle Bill. Guests will enjoy a night of fun at Peabody Heights Brewery with incredible trash wheel fan art, all-you-care to-drink beer, and googly-eyed crafts and games. Jam out to ghostly beats and classic hits spun by DJ Eddible, shop Trash Wheel merch from Baltimore in a Box, and enjoy snacks from local food trucks.
Glass Art: Stained Glass Crab
Foil, solder, and form a piece of stained glass art! Create your very own stained glass blue crab in this 3-hour workshop designed for ages 8+ and an adult companion. Learn how to use copper foiling techniques and a soldering iron to piece together segments of glass. This workshop is the perfect opportunity for anyone curious about the art of stained glass or interested in developing soldering skills.
Science Arcade
It’s game time! Build your own games and play some of ours—we’re turning the Science Center into a Science Arcade on Saturday, 28 from noon – 4:00pm. Craft the ultimate cardboard pinball machine. Explore conductivity and circuitry as you test out unique gamepads. Turn yourself into an 8-bit video game character. Practice your aim while experimenting with velocity, pool noodles, and Minecraft. Test out our mega-sized classic Nintendo controller. Plus a few more surprises await you—no quarters needed.
Baltimore Taco Festival
The 7th annual Baltimore Taco Festival is back! Maryland's biggest food festival of the year is taking over an entire city block along with Power Plant Live on Saturday, October 5th & Sunday, October 6th, 2024 for one spectacular weekend festival!
Crabs & Crushes
Perched into the Baltimore harbor on an overwater dock, the Phillips Crab Deck delivers all your local Eastern Shore favorites. So get your bibs ready, because this Celebration is about to get a whole lot messier!
This event is an all-you-can-eat crab feast that includes bottomless Smirnoff orange and grapefruit crushes and unlimited draft beer. But wait, that’s not all. The menu also includes endless shrimp, fried chicken, cole slaw, corn on the cob and more! Top off the event with juicy watermelon for the perfect summertime dessert.
Super Science Sleepover: Pokemon Party
Pikachu, I choose you! Calling all pokémon trainers, masters, and enthusiasts! Grab your Pokédex and embark on a journey to the Maryland Science Center for an overnight adventure. Legend has it, there are pokémon from nine different regions inhabiting the Science Center—and you gotta catch ’em all! Test your knowledge of pokémon evolutions, make yourself into a trading card, and battle and trade in our dedicated TCG arena. Plus, you’ll be able to access a gym and multiple Pokéstops all from the comfort of your sleeping bag before lights-out!
Glass Art: Stained Glass Bat
Grind, foil, solder and form a stained glass work of art! Design and craft your very own stained glass bat, with dried flower detail, in this 3-hour workshop designed for ages 8+. This workshop is perfect for glass work beginners who are interested in learning the process! In this workshop you will learn how to use a diamond grinder on pre-cut pieces of glass, discover copper foiling techniques, and use a soldering iron to piece together segments of glass.
Teacher Night Out
Teachers, we want to celebrate you the best way that the Maryland Science Center can—with an epic science party! Explore, mingle, and most importantly, have fun on Friday, October 18 from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Unwind with a beverage from our friends at Boordy Vineyards or Pherm Brewing Company and take some time to play through our exhibit halls—kid free! Connect with other teachers and learn more about how the Science Center can support you this school year through our field trip offerings and outreach programs. This event is FREE, but advance registration is required. Please be prepared to show a valid teacher ID at check-in.
Baltimore Running Festival
Charm City’s 24th Annual Running Festival offers races that never disappoint! Runners are sure to have quite the unique and memorable experience as they tour every corner of the city. And the post-race festivities are amazing and certainly well-earned!
Free Fall: AVAM's Annual Halloween Celebration
Boos and ghouls of all ages are invited to create their own luminary lantern at AVAM’s annual Free Fall Halloween Celebration! Enjoy crafts in the iconic Love Barn and free museum admission from 5-7 PM.
Halloween at Maryland Science Center
Halloween is back at the Maryland Science Center! The DMV’s legendary Halloween Event returns Saturday, October 26th to The Maryland Science Center with a groovy lineup of dance floor filling talent! For one night only it’s Studio 24, and the party, is on… This event is 21+ only. All items are non-refundable, all sales are final.
Super Science Sleepover: Academy of Wizardy
Your acceptance letter has arrived! Be sure to pack your wand and pop on your wizarding robe—you’re in for a magical night, sleeping over at Maryland Science Center’s Academy of Wizardry. Stroll through Diagon Alley where you will identify wand cores, practice quidditch, and create your own pygmy puff to adopt. Brew up potions in the SciLab. Design your own house crest to be displayed on your robes, and take some time to explore your favorite Science Center exhibits at nighttime!
Fells Point Oyster Fest
It's Back again this year and better than ever! Oysters raw and prepared, food stands galore, beer and cocktails, and LIVE MUSIC -- all on the Broadway Square!
Spooky Science
Celebrate the thrills and chills of Halloween with science! Creep over to the Maryland Science Center on Saturday, October 12, if you dare, for an afternoon filled with spooktacular science fun! Experiment with ghoulishly glowing lights that leave behind spine-tingling shadows. Take aim and send spiders flying onto a tangled web with our creepy catapults. Enter Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory for a monster engineering challenge, and more! All activities are free with paid admission and completely free for members. Costumes are encouraged. No weapons allowed.
Fiber Play: Ancestral Wall Hangings with Artist Aliana Grace Bailey
In conversation with Black Woman Genius artist Aliana Grace Bailey, workshop participants will reflect on the beauty and gifts of their ancestors and create a mixed media, fiber-based wall hanging collage to honor them and what’s been passed down to us. These colorful and pattern filled wall hangings can serve as an affirmation—a daily reminder of love. Participants can bring a small family keepsake to attach to their fabric art collage, such as a piece of cloth, button, or printed photograph. Children can participate with their families to create a collaborative family piece. Aliana will also have one of her floor looms available for participants to try!
Light Up The Night: A Night Paddle Experience
This night time paddle on the Inner Harbor will take place just as the sun is setting and the city lights are turning on. This night time paddle tour is open to experienced paddlers only. Lights and PFD’s are required, detailed instructions will be sent to all registered paddlers. We encourage as much glow in the dark clothing and accessories as possible!
4th Annual Haitian Caribbean Festival
Komite Ayiti, Inc. in collaboration with the Friends of Patterson Park is having its fourth annual Haitian Caribbean Festival on Sunday, August 11, 2024! Please come enjoy Haitian and Caribbean culture. This is a family-friendly event, all ages are welcome.

Mess Fest
Get ready to get messy! Grab your paint clothes and dirty sneakers because we’re making an ooey, gooey mess at the Maryland Science Center’s Mess Fest! This is our annual 2-day celebration of the most mucky, slimy, sticky, sloppy science we can come up with. All Mess Fest activities are free with paid admission or membership.
RUN SUP
We meet at the Inner Harbor Marina for a 45 minute out-and-back run and then hop on boards for a 45 minute guided cool-down paddle on the harbor! Combine 2 of our favorite things and start your day off by the water! Not a runner? No worries- do a power walk instead!
