The Most Instagrammable Spots on the Waterfront
Let’s face it: sometimes you have to do it for the ‘gram!
Luckily, Baltimore’s waterfront has tons of gorgeous views and landmarks that make for eye-catching photographs. Here is our guide to some of the best (and most instagrammable) photo opportunities on the waterfront, broken down by category.
Skylines and Water Views
The iconic waterfront/skyline view is what a lot of people think of first when it comes to Baltimore photography.
Broadway Pier
Water, skyline, and city views- this pier has it all! Depending on which you want as your backdrop, there are many options for getting the perfect shot at this Fells Point location. Its proximity to the bustling main street of Fells Point makes this a popular spot for visitors to the city as well as locals. Our favorite time to visit? During golden hour, when the lack of nearby tall buildings lets the light shine its fullest.
Bonus: This pier is also a great proposal spot! The views and lighting make for one of a kind photos of your special moment. Baltimoreans have used this pier as a proposal spot for that exact reason many times!
The Overlook
Over in the Inner Harbor, views of the harbor and Baltimore skyline abound! Our favorite place to take it all in is at Rash Field Park. The Overlook is the green roof of the BGE Pavilion, where visitors can climb up to take in views of the waterfront as well as the park itself. It’s especially great for photos during events at Rash Field, where you can have all the fun and crowds behind you as a backdrop!
From the Baltimore Water Taxi
What better place to take a photo of the water than on the water? Rides on the Baltimore Water Taxi are full of opportunities for great shots. You can take photos and videos during a normal taxi ride commuting between locations on the waterfront- or book a cruise around the harbor with your friends and take your time getting all the best shots!
The best time to take photos- they offer sunset and twilight cruises!
Murals and Art Pieces
Baltimore has a thriving local arts scene and there are beautiful artscapes across the city that people love to photograph. On the waterfront, we have some favorites that have been created and loved by local artists.
Luna Garden
The parking lot-turned-event space at this quirky local cafe has become a must for anyone searching for a photo op in Fells Point. The murals in the lot are bright and funky, giving an ideal backdrop for stylized photos.
Our Baltimore Mural at Pratt & Light Street
The newest artistic addition to the Inner Harbor is this mural on the facade of the Gallery at Harborplace. Local artists Eric Abecht and Andy Snair created this depiction of the most recognizable Baltimore scenes and iconography, including a raven on a football and a bucket of crabs. The bright, instantly identifiable mural is already a favorite of visitors and locals.
Lucky’s Crab Mural
While painted angel wings have become a (beloved) cliche for instagram travel influencers, this mural puts a Baltimore twist on it! In the style of the ubiquitous wing murals, this crab mural is designed for photo subjects to stand in the middle of, so that the claws come out on either side. It’s a very fun, very Baltimore photo!
Landmarks
The Harbor Point promenade is a stretch of waterfront promenade that passes through plenty of views and landmarks- including the famous Domino Sugar sign. This sign is a favorite for local photographers, influencers, and artists. Our favorite place to photograph it is from Wills Park in Harbor Point. The promenade here offers a direct shot of the sign as well as a skyline, plus you can often see boats passing through!
Mr. Trash Wheel
With his signature googly eyes and prolific online presence, Mr. Trash Wheel has become a local celebrity in Baltimore! People love to take photos of him and selfies with him as he sits in Harbor East. You can get a great angle of him from the Pier 5 bridge as well as from the Jones Falls Expy.
