Fiber Play: Ancestral Wall Hangings with Artist Aliana Grace Bailey

  • Reginald F. Lewis Museum 830 East Pratt Street Baltimore, MD, 21202 United States (map)

In conversation with Black Woman Genius artist Aliana Grace Bailey, workshop participants will reflect on the beauty and gifts of their ancestors and create a mixed media, fiber-based wall hanging collage to honor them and what’s been passed down to us. These colorful and pattern filled wall hangings can serve as an affirmation—a daily reminder of love. Participants can bring a small family keepsake to attach to their fabric art collage, such as a piece of cloth, button, or printed photograph. Children can participate with their families to create a collaborative family piece. Aliana will also have one of her floor looms available for participants to try!
