Welcome to the Garden

Dig into a gardening adventure! Journey into the garden to explore plant anatomy, adaptations, and chemical reactions in this 3-hour workshop designed for ages 7-10. Create your own mini-garden from up-cycled materials, investigate the form and function of plants through an instructor-led plant dissection, and experiment with chromatography to reveal the colorful pigments that leaves have hidden inside. This workshop is led by instructors from Seedling— a non-profit working to improve health outcomes in Baltimore youth through food equity education. Music Under the Dome is an immersive planetarium show featuring in-house curated imagery set to a 45-minute music playlist. Each show is uniquely developed to complement the soundtrack and is only available at the Maryland Science Center. Check in for the show early and enjoy a complementary happy hour, complete with adult beverages, special science demonstrations, and access to our space exhibits.
